Day 3 – Monday:
Lookout – Bat, Man!! Today gave a new meaning to the name Bat Man. The road was clear, the air crisp, the night completely pristine. Well except for the bats. Little did we know why the cyclists were ducking and weaving back and forth. We did hear a few girly squeals and it didn’t sound like Renee! (Ron Jerina)
And then… the Diva van was dive bombed by one of these creepy children of the night! We immediately became one with our team,
perfecting the duck and weave maneuver even within our trusty Diva van!
Once we escaped the coven of critters, our fearless leader Ron lead the team in the Memorial Ride –
The highlight of this day. The beauty of Skyline Drive was apparent even in the moonlight. The hills were daunting but the team was determined. What better way to face this challenge than to reflect on our warriors. Each team member called out the names of those who have faced this evil foe. Many tears were shed for those who finished their battle and are enjoying their reward. AND we are so proud of our brave warriors who are fighting daily.
It’s been a long and emotional day and now it’s time to relax, have dinner and celebrate “momma Jenn’s” 29th Birthday at Longhorn in Roanoke, Virginia
