It is amazing that in nine years of the C3 mision that it has only rained once (2015). Today is a beautiful day to begin another epic adventure! We had a beautiful departure ceremony with a moving prayer, a birthday gift for Gizmo Jr and a great poem by Joe Julien. And, more importantly, Melissa Dunn (my warrior) was there in good health and great spirits after her battle with breast cancer.
There is nothing like the hugs you get at the departure! The riders are thanked and hugged by everyone. They don’t know how much that means to us. Those hugs wrap us in the love of community that we all share. It is the unfortunate community of cancer, however; it is a community that lends strength, empathy, caring and sharing that allows others to get through one more day or one more treatment. The riders get embraced by that community as we try to do what we can to beat this thing.
