Beautiful post. I will be praying for you all tonight. Thanking God for Dawn too. I told Will Flanagan on Sunday how I have a new perspective on “sitting in the waiting room”. When Ron’s dad had his surgery I never really thought of his medical team as caregivers. I didn’t know them. I trusted that the Lord put Mike in good hands. I never once thought of what doctors and nurses go through on a daily basis. UNTIL I was sitting in the waiting room during Alan Howard’s surgery just weeks ago. Granted I know the Flanagan’s personally. Guess why? Because of this journey, this ride. I recall giving Laurens a call when I left the hospital to let her know her husband was going to be late getting home. The surgery was taking longer than anticipated. Cancer is ugly. The word itself is horrid. However, There has been a silver lining in the dark cloud of cancer for me. You people. You crazy, kooky, dedicated, passionate, big-hearted people. Thank you Dawn for being there with those precious little ones as they battle. For being with their families. Thank you Fireflies, Handlebar Heroes, OCC, Finish Strong, Cancer Crusaders, Legggs, medics, managers – all teammates past and present for all that you DO and are doing to inspire everyone that you meet to have a giving heart. I am proud to be a part of this group. I miss you terribly and look forward to our reunion on Thursday. Godspeed.
